mediate installation

mediate uses a straightforward installation process which shouldn't cause any problems for the majority of users. However there are a few cases where installation may cause occasional issues as described in below.

Corrupted installer

If upon running the mediate setup program you receive an error message similar to the one shown below, it is likely that you have a corrupted file. Do not attempt to run the installer using the /NCRC option - this will likely install a corrupted version of mediate.

installer error message

If your are running mediate setup from a CD then check the CD for dirt or scratches or try another drive if possible. If the CD appears damaged or still does not work contact our support team to request a new CD.

If you have downloaded mediate from our website try downloading the file again. If the file still appears to be corrupt try using a different web browser, or disabling any download accelerator programs you may have running.

DirectX not installed

mediate requires Microsoft DirectX version 9.0c or higher to be installed (available from our download section). If DirectX is not already installed before running the mediate installer an error message will be displayed during the installation.

It is possible to complete the installation and install DirectX after mediate, but note that mediate will not start until DirectX 9 has been properly installed.

Display drivers not installed

In order for Microsoft DirectX to use the full hardware acceleration capabilities of your graphics card, you must have suitable up to date drivers installed. Without these installed, you will see the following error message when starting mediate:

mediate error - no display drivers installed

Consult the documentation supplied with your graphics card for details of appropriate drivers to use. If drivers have been installed but this error is still reported then your card may not be compatible with DirectX 9 (this can affect some old cards), in which case you will not be able to use mediate.

See recommended hardware configuration for use with mediate here.
