mediate themes

mediate has an extremely powerful theme engine to render its user interface. This makes it possible to customise the appearance to suit your requirements. Themes are quick and easy to download and automatically install directly into mediate.

Installing a theme

To install a new mediate theme you will first need to download and save one of the available themes from our theme download section.

Once you have the theme downloaded to your computer, double click the theme installer icon to launch the setup program. The installer will automatically detect the correct installation location for mediate and if required can activate the newly installed theme within mediate.

Note: mediate must not be running whilst attempting to install themes, otherwise you will receive an error message and the installation will stop. Ensure that the mediate tray icon is closed if you do receive this message (right click and select "Exit mediate" on the tray icon to close mediate completely).

Changing a theme

Once a theme has been downloaded and installed you are free to switch between themes.

Use the following steps change a theme:

  1. Run mediate, which will start in the main menu.
  2. Navigate to and select the "settings" option.
  3. Do the same for "general" selection.
  4. Navigate to "Theme", and select your preferred theme. Use the "Ok" or left/right cursor keys to select the theme.
  5. Once you have selected your theme, make sure to "Save" this setting.
  6. The theme will become active the next time mediate is started. Restart mediate if you want to make it active immediately.

Designing a theme

We are currently developing a theme designer tool which will be provided free of charge. This will include an embedded version of mediate so that changes to the theme can be seen in realtime as they are modified - see the screenshots below for a sneak preview.

We're also working on a detailed theme developers guide that describes every aspect of the mediate theme format which we hope to publish soon.
